Yee-ouch! How did that happen?
Nope.... that's a dent and a half. Lets have the story then....
Poor you :(
OH! That's awful - WTF did that to the lovely Bones ?
hope you got more pics of the culprit?
Ooh Bogger!
That must have made your fillings rattle!
:-(
When countering the U-boat menace, ramming should only be used as a last resort...
Your just like totally gung-ho.
Hope that hasn't ruptured into your water tank, thereby contaminating it.
That is truly awful and I hope the culprit does indeed come forward of his own volition rather than wait to be 'reminded'.
This is your home not a toy.
Kath
Can it be fixed?
That's terrible, he should have stopped and asked if you were OK at the very least. Bad behavior, NOT on!
The so-called "culprit" is me.
Firstly, and most importantly; after the incident, which was quite a shock to me and my wife, I did ask if everyone was "alright", only to be immediately accused of "being on the wrong side" and then dragged into a slanging match with the crew member. Credit to bones as she diffused the situation.
The part of the Thames where we collided is a blind bend with a narrow gap between bushes just before it when entering upstream. We were travelling upstream and not on the wrong side though I will consent that we would have been central in the gap between the bushes. With such a strong flow downstream and both boats approaching "blind" at that exact moment, I doubt whether there was anything either of us could have done to avoid the collision.
I am a fair, friendly and honourable man. I have tried all day yesterday to track you down with the confines of a poor signal, eventually finding this blog.
I know where you moor and have even exchanged pleasantries as we have passed before. I have every intention of stopping by today and exchange all necessary details and hopefully in a now calm situation put my point across personally.
Thanks
Allan
Allan,
Thank you for making contact. You should pass me today if you are coming back this way.
Bones
My word Bones that must have been one hell of a shunt, sorry you have had the misfortune of bumping in to an absolute tosser. Accidents happen, but the fact he didn't enquire about your well being tells me he is NOT a true boater, as one of those would have gone out of their way to talk to you and sort things. Hope you are ok.
Debbie.
I take it all back Allan, you are indeed a true boater, apologies for jumping to conclusions.
Debbie.
Debbie,
Don't jump to conclusions, as i said... I hopedhe would stop if he passed and the comment above confirms that he will. It was a terrific bump and if he did enquire about me i didnt hear him, but he says he did, so that is what he did. It isn't fair to bad mouth so soon after the event, we all often respond one way in the heat of the moment and another after some time,
Thanks folks. Hopefully everything will be ok in the end.
He's deffinately not on my christmas card list though.
Owch, that's painful. Very sorry to hear about the accident, poor bones. I hope you'll be fixed and feeling better soon.
I've had some very near misses on the bends, although it's usually hire boat's that aren't used to the flow that come across.
Keep munching on the flans :o)
Hiyas,MB,,,Im glad all parties concerned are ok,,,,I think maybe the SHOCK on all sides came into play there. Still really pleased all is to be resolved soon. Hey have you closed down your FB page, as Im sure we was friends (or am I dreaming?) I often do,,,lol.
Barbara - yes, I deleted the FB account.
