OK... here it is
Due to popular demand (thanks Simon!) here is a picture of the bed:
The underside needs finishing, as does the wardrobe to the right, and the floor, but that is where it is at for now...

It looks very good- and gives me an odd sense of deja vu!
Hope you're pleased with it. A benefit we might not have mentioned is that you're sleeping in the warmest air at the top of the cabin!
well free, a ladder would have been a jolly good idea! I have a tool box at one end.... and long legs.
so then James... how do you get into yours?
The new bedroom looks very compact and cosy. You will become very unbachelorish living in these tidy conditions. Your workman definitely deserves a pat on the back now, for a job well done.
bones a ladder to me is the obvious,
but long legs is an assett i am sure

Perhaps I should have mentioned this earlier! As the bed is so near the back of the boat, the deck/floor rises to the same level as the Uxter plate, which gives a handy step. There's also some handy steps at the head of the bed on the other wall under the side hatch- but they're made of VERY cold metal so don't get used! They kind of need an undignified backward scramble into bed, which of course is unbecoming of a columnist of your stature.
I suppose you could put steps on the wall opposite, or maybe some well-rounded blocks of wood on the side of the wardrobe or something to act as steps.
design!! if the chest of draws went under the bed, would a draw open be a good step. hope you never do your back in or i think you be on the floor to sleep.

No! The drawers are under the bed but IKEA drawers are limited in the step department. Best ensure the drawers are fit for intended purpose and not go branching out into the realms of uncertainty
